APPRENTICES
We are Jesus’ apprentices.
The term apprentice is to be used as a synonym of disciple. Many people think of a disciple as a mere follower. The word apprentice forces us to look beyond the simple act of following and moves us into ideas of training and preparation to continue in the work that Jesus is beginning.
We will read through the Gospel of Mark, written by John Mark, an apprentice of Peter. Peter is telling his story of apprenticeship to Jesus and we get glimpses of what an apprentice learns, experiences and how they are equipped for the task of fishing for people.
